Ma Durga is the Hindu goddess that overcomes difficulties. In my yogic tradition we chant the 32 names of Durga to activate that problem solving force inside of us. The story of Ma Durga goes that all other deities are not able to fight a specific demon in a battle. They ask her for help. She receives weapons from the other gods, then goes and finishes the demon once and for all. Ma Durga rides her tiger, in other depictions a lion.
What demon do we have to overcome? Is the battlefield the mind? Our life? What does the tiger relate to? What is supporting us? How do we overcome difficulties? – Ma Durga is a reminder and an activation.
